Mr. Benny Ray Jordan age 78 of Parsons, TN. passed away on Tuesday January 3, 2023 at his home in Parsons, TN.
Benny grew up in Benton County, graduating from Holladay School. He served his country in Vietnam, earning a Purple Heart, and was honorably discharged in 1971. He spent much of his younger years riding horses and was an avid coon hunter. One of his greatest achievements was his work with the St. Jude World’s Largest Coon Hunt. He served as Hunt Director from 1976 - 85 and he was always proud of the impact that event had for children and for Decatur County. He greatly enjoyed his retirement years, and was often seen around town delivering his famous fried pies. He volunteered many years with the Carl Perkins Bass Classic by directing boat traffic, frying pies and making his famous “World’s Greatest Lemonade”. He was always laughing and telling stories everywhere he went, never meeting a stranger. He was very proud of his family and had a great love for his friends as well.
He is survived by his sons; Marty (Carey) Jordan of Huron, TN, and Clay (Angie) Jordan of Parsons, TN. grandchildren; Hannah (Jonah) Wilson, Kendall Jordan, McKenna Jordan, and Macy Jordan.
He is preceded in death by his wife; Linda Jordan, father; Ben Jordan, mother; Ruby Fullerton, sister; Martha Jane Gore.
Visitation for Mr. Benny Ray Jordan will be held on Wednesday January 4, 2023 from 1:00PM until 9:00PM at Parsons Mortuary. Visitation will continue on Thursday January 5, 2023 from 10:00AM until time of funeral service at Parsons Mortuary. Funeral services will be held on Thursday January 5, 2023 at 1:00PM in the Parsons Mortuary Chapel with burial to follow in the Cedar Hill Cemetery. Bro. Phillip Gulledge officiating.
