Betty Blankenship

Mrs. Betty Blankenship, age 81, of Decaturville, TN passed away on Sunday January 19, 2025, at Henderson County Community Hospital in Lexington, TN.

Betty loved spending 61 years as a hairdresser and as owner of the Winner's Choice, her prom and pageant wear shop.

Betty enjoyed serving her community for over 30 years as the Executive Director of two pageants she founded - Tennessee's Little Miss and America's Little Miss. She continued to serve her community and the town of Decaturville, TN as Alderman for 38 years. Betty immersed herself selflessly in her work as Secretary of the Decatur County Fair for over 50 years. One of her proudest moments was learning that Decatur County Fair was selected State Champion in 2023.

Betty, Loyce, and grandson Mack were avid Vol fans, making numerous trips to Knoxville and across the country to support them in bowl games.

Betty is survived by her daughter, Tina (Tim) Gardner of Lexington, TN; her "one and only" grandson, Mack (Kelly) Gardner of Hattiesburg, MS; sister, Martha Jo Neuenschwander of Scotts Hill, TN; numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Gladys & Jason Sims; husbands, Loyce Blankenship Jr. and Tommy Maness: brother, J.D. Sims; sister, Ann Bingham.

A visitation for Mrs. Blankenship will be held on Monday January 20, 2025, from 3:00PM until 9:00PM at Parsons Mortuary. Visitation will continue Tuesday January 21, 2025, from 10:00AM
until time of service. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday January 21, 2025, at 2:00PM in the Parsons Mortuary Chapel with burial to follow in the Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Decaturville, TN.
