Billy Joe Brown was born on January 18, 1954, in Lubbock, Texas to William and Mary Joe Brown. He married his wife, Patricia, on November 24, 1973. They had fifty-one wonderful years together. He was the proud father of three children and the loving Poppaw to ten grandchildren.
He answered the call to ministry in his early twenties and pastored four churches in Tennessee and one in Texas. He loved music and also served as minister of music at two churches in Tennessee and one in Texas early in his career. He was a graduate of Union University and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas.
After ministry and his family, Bill's passion was gardening. He loved to, as he would say, "Dig in the dirt". On most days, he could be found in his garden, greenhouse, orchard, or tending his many colonies of honeybees. He also loved playing golf with his son Mark. Above all, Bill loved God's word! He was never happier than when he was teaching and studying the Bible with his church family. We know he is with Jesus, but he will be sorely missed here.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia, two sons, Cory (Lynn), and Mark (Heather), a daughter, Laura (Paul), and a sister, Annell (Dwayne) Harris of Abilene, Texas. He also leaves behind a brother-in-law, Glen Watkins, and three nephews and a niece.
Visitation for Mr. Brown will be held on Friday March 28, 2025, from 11:00AM until time of funeral service at the Calvary Baptist Church in Parsons, TN. Funeral services will be held on Friday March 28, 2025, at 2:00PM at the Calvary Baptist Church with burial to follow in the Crossroads Cemetery in Parsons, TN.
