Mrs. Bobbie Jean Bartholomew age 78 of Parsons, TN, passed away on Friday September 1, 2023 at Vanderbilt Hospital in Nashville, TN.
Bobbie was wonderfully devoted to her family. She married Freddy on Dec. 20, 1963, this year would be their 60th anniversary. She was so proud of Richie & Jennifer. She was especially proud of her grandsons, Owen & Aaron.
She graduated as Valedictorian of Parsons High School in 1963.
She led by example and was always doing for others.
She was a cosmetologist for many years. She went back to school and graduated from Union University in 1991 with a degree in education. She then worked for the Decatur County School System as an educator for over 20 years. She always felt that education was important and was very proud of Owen & Aaron for going to college.
She was a devoted member at Calvary Baptist Church in Parsons. She loved the Lord and loved to serve.
She was strong, determined, and fiercely independent. Those traits will greatly be missed by her family.
She loved to travel and enjoyed trips out west, to Disney, and traveling to Michigan. She loved the National Parks. She was grateful to share these experiences with Owen & Aaron.
She was looking forward to Owen & Jaylie's upcoming wedding in November.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Lesie Riggs and father, Virgil Riggs.
Survivors include her husband, Freddy Bartholomew; son, Richard (Jennifer) Bartholomew; grandchildren, Owen (Jaylie) Bartholomew and Aaron Bartholomew; sisters, Jimmie (Jerry) Miller and Patricia (Edward) Mathis; nephews, Kevin Mathis and Steve Miller.
Visitation for Mrs. Bartholomew will be held on Monday Sept. 4, 2023 from 11:00AM until 9:00PM at the Calvary Baptist Church in Parsons. Visitation will continue on Tuesday Sept. 5, 2023 from 10:00AM until time of funeral service at the Calvary Baptist Church in Parsons. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday Sept 5, 2023 at 4:00PM at the Calvary Baptist Church in Parsons with burial to follow in the Bear Creek Cemetery.
