Bobby Baker Obituary

Mr. Bobby Eugene Baker of Sugar Tree, Tennessee, passed away on Tuesday, December 30, 2025, at Saint Thomas Hospital in Nashville, Tennessee, at the age of 78.

He was born on October 13, 1947, to the late Cecil and Eva Baker. After graduating from high school, Bobby proudly served his country in the Vietnam War. Upon returning home, he married his lifelong love, Betty Lou Baker. They shared 48 happy years of marriage before her passing in 2014.

Bob and Betty made their home in Mundelein, Illinois, where they raised their two daughters, Brenda and Flor Marie. Bob worked for the Chicago Carpenters Union for more than 30 years. He was also an avid bowler, participating in a league for many years and achieving an impressive 298 game in 1983.

Following his retirement, Bob and Betty returned to his childhood home in Sugar Tree, Tennessee. Bob enjoyed 18 years of retirement doing the things he loved most—mowing the yard, planting a garden, drinking a cold beer, and welcoming visits from his great-grandchildren. He especially loved the chaos, mess, and joyful noise they brought into his home.

Bob was truly an amazing human being. He loved his neighbors, and if you knew him, you loved him. Quiet and calm by nature, he always took time to tell those he loved how much they meant to him. He was extremely kind, thoughtful, and genuine, and his presence brought comfort to everyone around him.

He is survived by his daughters, Brenda Mechelle Baker of Taylors, South Carolina, and Flor Marie Carter (Ryan) of Lake Forest, Illinois; his brother, Donnie Baker of Hemet, California; sisters, Glenda Shea (Neal), Sherry Keeton, and Darlene Brown (Chris), all of Parsons, Tennessee; grandson, Thomas Castellon (Lucy) of Springfield, Tennessee; granddaughter, Krystal Castellon (Luis) of Las Vegas, Nevada; and great-grandchildren, Conrad, McLaren, Rorie, Millie, Teddy, Anika, Stephen, Christian, and Robbie. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Cecil and Eva Baker; his beloved wife, Betty Lou Baker; brothers, Jordan Baker, Oneal Baker, Hugh “Squack” Baker, Jackie Baker, and Billy Baker; sisters, Margaret Britt, Betty “Pooche” Albright, and Jane Haggard; and grandson, T.J. Castellon.
