Carolyn Smith Ray, age 74, passed away peacefully on September 15, 2021 at NHC Nursing Home in Franklin, TN. She suffered a stroke in 2010 and battled complications from the stroke and additional strokes over the last 11 years. Her beautiful smile and positive attitude was a testament to her commitment to family during this battle. Carolyn was born March 20, 1947 in Decaturville, Tennessee to Albert and Faye Kindle. She married Larry “Skippy” Smith upon graduation from High School. Carolyn and Larry had two sons Bryan and Bart Smith. Larry and Carolyn divorced after the boys were grown. Afterwards she married Rick Ray. Rick has a son, Josh Ray. Carolyn was a committed mother to all 3 boys. Carolyn loved people, and she and Rick opened their home up to family and friends. Most weekends, there was a revolving door of friends coming by to visit. Those visits brought a smile to her face and joy to her life. Carolyn was the beloved mother of Bart (Amanda), Bryan (Beth) and Josh (Rachel), proud grandmother of Heath (Krista), Hayden, Hunter (Brye), Sloan (Braxton) and Kelli, and proud great grandmother of Hudson, Harper, Grayson, and Sophie. Carolyn is survived by her husband Rick, her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, her brother Joe (Toni) Kindle, her sister Sheila (Tommy) Hardison and her sister-in-law Martha Kindle. She was predeceased by her eldest brother Dale Kindle. Carolyn’s life will be celebrated with a private family service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mt.
