Charles M. "Chod" Herndon Jr.

Mr. Charles M. “Chod” Herndon Jr., age 80 of Parsons, TN passed away on Tuesday November 12, 2024, at AHC Decatur County in Parsons, TN.

Chod lived his life to dedicate and serve, serving over 25 years with TDOT before retiring. His proudest dedication was that to Decatur County Elks Lodge. An originating member of BPOE #2641, he was a loyal member of 43 years. He was particularly dedicated to Elks scholarship funds. He frequented surrounding Elks lodges and rarely missed district or regional conventions. Each that knew him knew his commitment to the Elks, and he will be deeply missed.

He is survived by his nieces, Leticia Celeste Sossaman (Mike), Cindy Reynolds, and Cathy Howard; nephew, Dennis J. Sossaman (Glinda). He is also survived by special friends Joe Paul Myracle, Tanya Gant, Brooke Bedwell, and a host of Elks Lodge family.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Gladious B. & Charlie M. Herndon; brother, Bobby Ray Herndon; sisters, Doris June Sossaman and Joyce Adams.

A visitation for Mr. Herndon will be held on Friday Nov. 15, 2024, from 5:00PM until 8:00PM at Parsons Mortuary. Visitation will continue Saturday Nov. 16, 2024, from 9:00AM until time of funeral service. Funeral services will be held on Saturday Nov. 16, 2024, at 11:00AM in the Parsons Mortuary Chapel with burial to follow in the Mt. Tabor Cemetery in Parsons, TN.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Decatur County Elks Lodge Scholarship Fund in memory of "Chod".
