Deane C. Stokes of Sugar Tree, age 96 went to be with her Lord Monday May 15, 2023 at her home surrounded by her family. Born Dec. 10, 1926 in Hardin County, TN, her family later moved to Missouri where she spent her childhood and attended school. She worked in Memphis as a typist during WWII. After she married. Deane moved to Sugar Tree where she devoted her life to her family. Deane was a woman of faith and taught Children's Sunday School for over 50 years at the Wesson's Chapel Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Guy, three children, Sgt. Guy L Stokes Jr., who was killed in action in Vietnam, Larry Stokes, and Gwen Stokes O'Neil.
Survivors include daughter, Jo Stokes Fisher (David); sons, Max Stokes, Mark Stokes (Denise) and Eric Stokes; sisters, Mary, Anne, Betty, and Martha. 14 Grandchildren, host of Great Grandchildren, and a host of Great Great Grandchildren.
The family will accept friends and family for graveside services on Thursday May 18, 2023 at 2:00PM in the Wesson's Chapel Cemetery. Bro. Phillip Gulledge officiating.
