Delbert "D.R." Gilbert

Delbert “D.R.” Gilbert, age 103, born July 1, 1919 and lived in Karns for 74 years, passed away August 25, 2022. He was a carpenter by trade working in Oak Ridge for the majority of his career. He was a member of Grace Baptist Church for 50 years. Member of Beaver Ridge Masonic Lodge, #366 where he entered apprentice May 14, 1949, Fellowcraft, June 18, 1949 and Master Mason July 30, 1949. Past Master of Beaver Ridge Lodge # 366 in 1970, District 20 Master Mason in the year 2020. Preceded in death by parents, W.C. and Girtha Gilbert; wives, Effie Lea Gilbert and Mae Collins Gilbert; daughter, Martha Anne Bradford and son-in-law, William Forrester, II. He was the oldest of seven children with four preceding him in death. Survived by daughter, Linda Forrester; grandchildren, William Forrester, III and wife Sheila; great-grandchildren, Maggie and Hayden Forrester; sister, Patsy Jackson; brother, W.C. Gilbert, Jr. and many nieces and nephews. A special thank you to Autumn Care Assisted Living, especially Kristina and Melanie at Smokey Mountain Hospice. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Shriner’s Children’s Hospital or Masonic Lodge #366. Family will receive friends Sunday at Weaver’s Chapel from 1:00-3:00 pm with service to follow at 3:00pm. The family will also receive friends 1-2 pm Monday at Parsons Mortuary in Parsons, TN with a service to follow at 2 pm CST in the chapel. The burial will follow in Prospect Cemetery.
