Diann C. Floyd Obituary

Diann C. Floyd, age 77, passed away peacefully on April 27, 2021, with her family by her side. She was a lifelong resident of Parsons, Tennessee where she graduated high school in 1961. Following graduation, she attended West Tennessee Business College. She spent the majority of her working years with Townsend Evans Insurance group, dedicating 47 loyal years. Throughout these years, she was a faithful fan of Lady Panther sports, never missing a game played by her daughter Tracie. This love of sports has carried on as she has watched from a distance, via shared videos, live streams and animated personal account, the athletic endeavors of her two grandsons, Miller and Carson. If you happened to speak to her, you most likely heard a story or two about them as well. She had a quick wit and loved a good belly laugh.

She contributed greatly to the community of Parsons over the years. She was an active member of First Cumberland Presbyterian Church. She volunteered as secretary for Jeanette Cemetery for 30 years. She was a long-standing member of The Order of the Eastern Star, Parsons Chapter 127, with more than 50 years in the organization. She upheld the mission of Eastern Star through sharing her knowledge and commitment, serving three terms as The Worthy Matron, and as secretary for 30 years. Beyond the local chapter, she contributed on the state level in many stations. She served as Grand Instructor for District 3, Grand Representative to the State of New York 2001-2003, Secretary of the Line Office Club and West Tennessee Gavel Club. In 2013, she traversed the state supporting her late husband, Mack Johnson, in his role as Worthy Grand Patron Chapter Order of the Eastern Star State of Tennessee. Diann was recognized and appreciated for her efficiency, willingness to share her extensive knowledge and tireless dedication. She was a shining example of The Eastern Star values of charity, truth and loving kindness. Perhaps these values are best reflected in the many enduring friendships formed throughout her years of service.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Mabel Collett; brother, Mike R. Collett; late husband Mack Johnson (2017); previously widowed by James Floyd (2005). She is survived by her daughter, Tracie Miller (Lezlie Mathews) and her two grandsons who were the apple of her eye, Miller and Carson Mathews.

Memorial Services will be held at Parsons Mortuary on Saturday, May 1 with visitation from 9:00 to 11:00 am.  Graveside service to follow at 11:30AM in the Jeanette Cemetery (Salem) officiated by Rev. Don Franks. Musical celebration by John Hays, but “no sad mess” as requested by Diann.
