Donna Lynn Monroe

          Donna Lynn Monroe, 72 of Perryville, Tn, passed away on July 23, 2021, at her home surrounded by her family. She was born on November 28, 1948 to the late Clarence and Mary Katherine Pope.

          Donna Monroe was known by many names. Sweetheart is what her loving husband, Johnny Monroe, of 57 years called her. Donna eloped and married her childhood sweetheart on December 5, 1964 and they were sealed in the Salt Lake City Temple, for time and all eternity, in 1972. She was dedicated, committed, and supportive to her husband through the many years they had together being his co-pilot while traveling and in life. Johnny knows that she was the reason for all his accolades and accomplishments in life. Donna recently agreed to the fact that she helped get all his kinks out and made him the man he is today. While she will be missed we are comforted in knowing that she is with God and her family will be together forever.

          She also had the name of Mama. She was an exceptional mother to Frankie Monroe, Rhonda (Gary) Coleman, Tina (Ricky) Smith, Mark Monroe, Laura Monroe, and Natalie (Corey) Higdon. This role of mother is where she put the most energy. As a mom, she had a beautiful welcoming aura, and her children always walked away with an elevated sense of self-worth. Her love for her children was unconditional and unwavering.

          Perhaps her favorite name to be called was Gran. She was an adored grandmother to Emily Smith, Jordan (Scott) Ferguson, Blake King, Riley Coleman, Drake Smith, Lily Smith, Ellie Monroe, Emma Monroe, Olivia Wiggins, Chandler Wiggins, Ty Wiggins, and Isabella Monroe. She was also beloved by her great grandchildren, Lilliana Smith, Norah Ferguson, Emmitt Ferguson, and Nolan Ferguson. She loved celebrating all of her grandchildren's and great grandchildren's accomplishments whether it was being their number one fan at a aball game, celebrating a birthday, or academic success. She was her happiest being called Gran and will forever remain a star in their eyes.

          Additionally, she was simply called Donna by her siblings Carol (DeWayne) White, Danny (Penny) Pope, Charlie (Karen) Pope, her aunt Margaret Rainey, numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. She cared deeply for her family and friends. Donna did this not out of obligations, but because of who she was. She had an unbanning ability to reach people in deep and positives ways; she had a servants heart. As a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, she provided years of service to others. Donna not only gave to her fellow church members but also to her friends and strangers. She will be remembered for her unselfish kindness, love, and compassion. She gave silent service to other's because she knew that as humans we rise up by lifting others.

          Many people would have called Donna a Hero. It would be wrong to say that she lost her battle because she never stopped fighting in her life's journey. No matter how sick she was, she was always determined to celebrate her family and friends and to continue to give love, compassion and service to others. When anyone else would have broken, Donna stayed strong. Through her, we know what resilience and perseverance truly looks like. There was no quit in Donna, Just because she is no longer here, it doesn't mean she lost her fight.

          Some might say that there are not enough words to describe Donna but her family and loved ones know that there are many words that describe what she meant to them; sweetheart, Mama, Gran, sister, friend, giver, hero.

          Donna is preceded in death by her son, Frankie Monroe, and her parents, Clarence and Mary Katherine Pope.

          Visitation will be held at Parsons Mortuary on July 23, 2021 from 4:00PM to 9:00PM. Visitation will continue on July 24, 2021 from 10:00AM until funeral service at The church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints ath the Linden Ward. Her funeral service will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints at the Linden Ward, 7278 US-412 Linden, Tn, 37096 at 1:00PM on July 24, 2021 with burial to follow at the Sardis Ridge Cemetery in Parsons, TN.
