Mrs. Dorothy Anne Hamm was born on November 4, 1935, and was called to her eternal home on November 2, 2023. She was born in Decatur County as the daughter of Boss and Maggie Mitchell also of Decatur County.
Dorothy grew up in the Decaturville Community and was loved by everyone that knew her. While growing up in Decaturville she met the love of her life Vaughn Ray Hamm from the Beacon community. They married on January 29, 1954, and remained married until his passing on June 27, 2023. Brother and Sister Hamm worked tirelessly together for the Kingdom of God throughout their married life. Brother Hamm pastored multiple churches over his 55-year career with Sister Hamm always by his side. Throughout her life she cared for many families, always willing to council and console.
One of her greatest joys was being able to babysit her grandchildren, and others that she kept and loved as if they were her grandchildren. She was the anchor of her home and maintained it to perfection, but always kept an open door that was welcoming to anyone that visited needing love, council, spiritual guidance, or just a laugh and warm smile. Dorothy grew up as a sister of seven children from a very humble childhood. She was tremendously proud of her home, her family, her accomplishments throughout life, and of the many families that they influenced. She was a cancer survivor for 40-years and an inspiration to others fighting this disease. Sister Hamm lived life on the word of God and shared it with all that knew her, bringing many souls to follow Christ.
Dorothy is survived by one son Steve (Beverly) Hamm; one daughter Bridgette (Randy) McKinnon; sisters, Mable Ayers & Maxie Rushing; daughter in-law Rosa Hamm; four grandchildren, Misty (Michael) Cozart, Michael (Amber) Hamm, Tyler (Kari) Hamm, and Emileigh Jordan; five great grandchildren, Peyton Hamm, Wyatt Watson, Pierson Hamm, Reece Watson, and Jarrett Hamm.
She was proceeded in death by her parents; her son Kent Mitchell Hamm; daughter Shelia Ann Hamm; one brother Bud Mitchell; and three sisters Marie Graham, Nan Stone, and Maple Rameriz.
