Dorothy Marie Batchelder, 89 went on her final journey Wednesday, November 6, 2024, in Decaturville, TN with family by her side.

Dorothy was born April 22, 1935, in Alpena, MI to William and Edith Lavoie. Dot loved to play with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. But most of all she loved Owls, all owls were welcome in her home (if they weren't alive).

In 1958 Dot graduated from Eastern University with a degree in Teaching. She taught the Blind at Pullen School and Mary Mcguire in Mount Pleasant, MI until 1964.

Dot married Wilson (Bud) Devere Batchelder on October 22, 1960. They were blessed with 2 children and each other prior to Bud's death in 1994. They built 2 homes together and raised their family.

Dot is survived by her children, Thomas (Tanja) Batchelder and Valerie (Scott) Liotta. Her bother Thomas (Joan) Lavoie, Grandchildren, Tim (Hollie) Batchelder, Mike (Alyssa) Batchelder, many great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Bud, brother Fred Lavoie, and many family members who were all waiting for her at her final destination.

Dot will be remembered for her laughter and her beautiful smile. She had a great heart and a wonderful sense of humor. She will be missed.
