Mrs. Evelyn Blankenship "Mamaw", age 82, of Linden, TN passed away on Sunday May 11, 2025, at her home in Linden.
Evelyn was a woman of quiet strength, compassion, and unwavering dedication to others. In the 1960s, she worked in local sewing factories and remained there faithfully until they closed. She then devoted nearly a decade of her life to serving others as a Certified Nursing Assistant, caring for people with the same tenderness she gave to her own family. After a serious car accident in the late 1990s, she was forced to step away from CNA work due to a neck injury that required surgery—but her commitment to caring for others never faded.
Evelyn poured herself into her home and her family. She was a devoted wife & homemaker who loved sewing and cooking for anyone who would eat or came by for a visit.
In 2013, Evelyn even took on bail bonding when Johnny wasn’t able to do so anymore. During this chapter of her life, she also battled & survived breast cancer in 2015.
In her later years, she became an avid crocheter. She loved making things, especially boggins for everyone she knew. She found joy in spoiling her grandchild and always made sure others were taken care of before herself especially her guys—Johnny, Herby, & Peyton. She cared for them until she simply couldn’t anymore.
Her faith was a guiding light in her life, and she was a member of Linden Church of God. Evelyn leaves behind a legacy of selflessness, strength, and love that touched every life she encountered.
She is survived by her sons, Herby (Jennifer) Blankenship of Parsons, TN and Jonathan Wood of Jackson, TN; daughter, Pam (Alan) Lackey of Parsons, TN; grandchildren, Peyton Blankenship, Jemma Blankenship, Steven Taylor, Lauren (Clark) Milam, Cole Lackey, Adam Davis, and Deanna Davis; 2 Great Grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Johnny Blankenship; parents, Delta & Clifford Gibson; brother, Clovis Gibson.

Visitation will continue on Tuesday May 13, 2025, from 11:00AM until time of funeral service. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday May 13, 2025, at 2:00PM in the Parsons Mortuary Chapel with burial to follow in the Mt. Ararat Cemetery in Darden, TN.
