The children of Ms. Almetta Gibson announce the passing of our Mother, our life coach and dear friend at age 101 years young.

Ms. Gibson was born on December 4, 1923, to William and Addie Baker Cagle of Decatur County's Cozette community. She married Youal Gibson of neighboring Jeanette. They lived and raised their children in Darden and were members of the Darden Missionary Baptist Church.

Almetta was a homemaker and a dedicated Christian active in her community, church and her children's schools. Her favorite scripture was Proverbs 3:5-6. Proverbs 31:10-31 describes her life as we saw our Mother.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and by Youal, her husband of 66 years.

Survivors include her children, James (Cathie) Gibson of Northville, MI, Kay (Steve) Alexander of Huntsville, AL and Ron Gibson of Holladay, TN, her grandchildren, Mark Gibson and Deborah, Bret and Matthew Alexander, her five great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.

Visitors are invited on Friday April 11, 2025, from 11:00AM until 1:30PM at Parsons Mortuary. A graveside ceremony will follow at 2:00PM in the Jeanette Cemetery.
