George L Haggard Obituary

George L Haggard age 83 departed his earthly home for his Heavenly home on December 16, 2021.

George is survived by his wife of 63 years Brooksie Haggard. 2 Sons – Tommy (Julie) Haggard and Michael (LaDonna) Haggard. 3 Daughters – Nelda (Billy) Pritchard, Carla (Rob) Butler, and Renee (Gary) Wheatley. 13 Grandchildren – Josh Haggard, Leslie Bartholomew, Laura Bridges, Laken Willis, Tiffany Haggard, Derrick Pritchard, Tony Butler, Michael K. Butler, Cary Bivens, Eli Haggard, Emily Capps, Erin Milam, Ethan Wheatley. 4 Grand Daughter In Laws. 6 Grand Son In Laws. 27 Great Grandchildren. 1 Great Great Grandchild. Several Nieces and Nephews. George was proud of every member of his family. He loved each one of them.

George was preceded in death by his Father and Mother – Bob Haggard & Gracie Cruse Haggard. 3 Brothers – Calvin Haggard, Robert Haggard, and Travis Pete Haggard. 3 Sisters – Mary Ola Qullions, Judy Lindsey, and Peggy Channell. 1 Niece – Lisa Ann Haggard. 1 Nephew – Timmy Lynn Haggard.

George was a long time Member, Song Leader, and Deacon of New Prospect Missionary Baptist Church.

He worked at Kaddis Mfg. in Decatur Co. and was an employee for Decatur County for 20 Years. When George wasn't working he enjoyed serving his community with The Decatur County Coon Hunt, spending time with his family, and singing gospel music.

George served his country as a member of the National Guard.

George was a singing man. Next to God he loved his family, playing his guitar, and singing. George was a member of The Gospel Road Singers and was awarded a Lifetime Achievement Award as a singer in the West TN Gospel Music Association.

Visitation with the family will be held on Saturday Dec. 18, 2021 from 12:00PM – 8:00PM in the Parsons Mortuary Chapel. Visitation will continue on Sunday December 19, 2021 from 9:00AM until time of funeral service at New Prospect Missionary Baptist Church. Funeral Services will be held on Sunday December 19, 2021 at 1:00PM at the New Prospect Missionary Baptist Church with burial to follow in the New Prospect Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers the family request donations to be made to; New Prospect Cemetery Fund, St. Jude, or Easter Seals.
