James Dudley Harriss age 80 passed from this earthly life on Wednesday August 7th, 2024, at his home in Scotts Hill TN. He has been a member of the Church of Christ for the last 48 years. He truly enjoyed fellowshipping with God’s family.
He graduated from high school in Freeport, Texas in 1961. Also serving in the US Navy stationed in Millington TN, where he met his future wife Carolyn Clark afterwards receiving orders to serve on Midway Island during the Vietnam War era. They married on March 4, 1964, and enjoyed 60 years of marriage together. Later in life becoming a proud member of the IBEW Local 474 for 20 years. He never met a stranger making friends wherever he traveled.
He is survived by his loving wife Carolyn Harriss of more than 60 years. Two sons Jim (Shonda) Harriss, John (Amanda) Harriss. Six grandchildren Wendy Harriss Brewer, Daniel (Kaitlyn) Harriss, Matthew (Kathryn) Harriss, Samantha, Bryan Luke, Dawson Harriss. Five great grandchildren Jaxon and Rebeka Brewer, August and Lane Harriss, and Madi Harriss. His brother Philip (Lyn) Harriss of Sweeny, TX, sister-in-law Tricia Harriss. As well as his nieces, nephews, relatives, and many friends throughout Tennessee, Texas, Arkansas and Missouri.
He is preceded from this life by his parents Charles and Mary Browning Harriss. His son Wesley Harriss. A brother Melvin Harriss and sister Charlene Eggleston, and his brother-in-law Larry Eggleston.
Visitation will be at Red Walnut Church of Christ on Monday August 12th beginning at 2pm until time of services on Tuesday August 13th at 10am with burial services directly following at Red Walnut Cemetery in Bath Springs, TN.
