John D. Townsend

John David Townsend was born September 14, 1940, in Parsons, Tennessee & departed this life February 6, 2025, at ST Thomas Hospital in Nashville, Tennessee after 84 years, 4 months & 23 days.

John became a Christian at an early age and stayed faithful his entire life.

He attended school in Parsons and graduated in 1959, then continued to earn a Degree in Agriculture from UT Martin in 1963. After college he entered the field of Banking for 45 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Emma Lou Reeves Townsend and Herman Townsend.

He leaves behind his wife Alma Greer Townsend of Parsons, Tennessee. One son David Townsend (Katie) of Parsons, Tennessee. One sister Patricia Townsend McIlvain of Jackson, Tennessee.

Visitation for Mr. Townsend will be held on Friday Feb. 7, 2025, from 4:00PM until 8:00PM at Parsons Mortuary. Visitation will continue Saturday Feb. 8, 2025, from 12:00PM until the time of funeral service. Funeral services will be held on Saturday Feb. 8, 2025, at 2:00PM in the Parsons Mortuary Chapel with a burial to follow in the Mt. Ararat Cemetery in Darden, TN.
