Mr. Jordan Baker WWII Veteran & POW passed away on Monday July 22, 2024, at the TN State Veterans’ Home in Murfreesboro, TN at the age of 98.
Born December 25, 1925, to the late Cecil & Thelma Jordan Baker. At the age of 18 he married the love of his life Evelyn Smith Baker. This union was blessed for 56 years until her death in 1999. They were blessed with two daughters, Phyllis & Jor Lynn. Later he became Papaw to five grandchildren, Kristie, Kelly, Merle, Michael, and Michelle. He also had nine great grandchildren & one great great grandchild.
He was a car hauler for Commercial Carriers/Allied Trucking for 40 years. After his retirement he moved back to Decatur County where he was involved in many organizations such as VFW, DAV, POW & the St. Jude World’s Largest Coon Hunt. He was a member of Salem Baptist Church.
Mr. Baker is survived by two daughters, Phyllis Grams of Buford, SC & Jor Lynn (Fred) Conrad of Franklin, TN, 5 Grandchildren, 9 Great Grandchildren, and 1 Great Great Grandchild, two brothers Bob Baker of Sugar Tree, TN, & Donnie Baker of Hemet, CA. Three sisters Glenda (Neal) Shea, Sherry (David) Keeton & Darlene (Chris) Brown all of Parsons, TN.
Mr. Baker was preceded in death by his wife Evelyn, stepmother, Eva Baker, granddaughter, Kimberly Conrad, brothers, Billy, Oneal, Hugh “Squack”, and Jackie Baker, sisters, Margaret Britt, Betty “Pooche” Albright, and Jane Haggard.
Visitation with the Baker family will be Thursday July 25, 2024, from 4:00PM – 8:00PM at Parsons Mortuary and will continue Friday July 26, 2024, from 10:00AM until time of service at 2:00PM in the Parsons Mortuary Chapel with burial to follow in the Jeanette Cemetery.
