Linda Ellen Boyle Obituary

Linda Ellen Boyle was born on July 14, 1950, in Memphis, Tennessee and on October 23, 2025, she went to the great beach house in the sky. Linda was preceded in death by her daughter, Elizabeth Lynn Gillespie, and her mother, Elizabeth Joyce Parsley Boyle. A lifelong Tennessean and fan of the UT Vols, Linda was beloved by those she touched with her kindness, her talent, her generosity, and particularly her engaging laugh. Linda loved making other people happy with her feisty spirit and lovingly selected gifts - choosing a “happy” for every occasion or no occasion at all. The beach was her happy place, as well as on her boat relaxing and looking at the sunset over the water. A trailblazer and a numbers lady, Linda overcame obstacles faced by women in business and education, she returned to school and obtained her BBA in Accounting, and in the years that followed she reached incredible successes. Through her legacy, Linda has shown the generation that follows her the value of hard work, strategic determination, and a strong will. As we grieve her loss, we are remembering Linda doing what she loved most, stitching. The needlepoint creations that Linda made throughout her life are genuine works of art, reflecting her interests - ocean life, birds, flowers, and mermaids galore.

Linda’s treasured friends, family, and colleagues are comforted to know that Linda built a beautiful life for herself and always made sure to enjoy good seafood every chance she had. Linda is survived by her loving family: her big bro, Mike Boyle, of Memphis, and her nephew, Patrick Boyle, of Powell, nieces Claire Boyle and Kate Clenney, of Jackson, and Marian Greer, of Nashville. Linda’s great nieces and nephews, Michael, Mitchell, Taylor, Rainey, Naomi, and Canon were loved and cherished as grandchildren. A private memorial will be held to honor Linda’s life and memory the way she wanted, with a good laugh, some good music, and maybe a cocktail or two. Memorials may be made to a fund established in Linda’s honor, those who are interested, please contact her family for information.

“To plant a garden is to believe in tomorrow” Linda’s love, laughter, and spirit will live on in our hearts - today, tomorrow, and forever.
