Onita Boggan Obituary

Onita Conrad Boggan, age 90, departed this life on Friday, October 25, 2024 in Parsons, Tennessee.

She was born on February 8, 1934, in Decatur County, Tennessee to William Jesse (Jake) Conrad and Lodie Allen Conrad. Onita married Ralph Hugh Boggan on January 31, 1953. They were blessed with 38 years of marriage prior to Ralph’s death on April 25, 1991.

Survivors include three children Steve (Angie) Boggan, Pam (Gary) Brasher, and Dan (Jenita) Boggan; two granddaughters Wendy (Tommy) Welch and Courtney (Thijs) Nales; eight great grandchildren Shana Welch, Shane Welch, Jared (Halli) Welch, Lynus Nales, Eleanor Nales, Felix Nales, Thaddeus Nales, and Oliver Nales; three step grandchildren and five step great grandchildren.

She is also survived by brothers Fred (Jorlynn) Conrad, Holland (Susan) Conrad, Jerry (Shelia) Conrad, and Wilson (Gina) Conrad; sisters Mary Lou (Jerry) Harper and Martha (David) Wolfe and many special nieces and nephews.

Onita was preceded in death by her parents William Jesse (Jake) and Lodie Allen Conrad, husband Ralph Boggan, infant daughter Susan, and mother-in-law Olive Boggan. She was also preceded in death by brothers Loy Conrad, J. C. Conrad, Revo Cruse, and sisters Juanita Hickerson, Joy Burleson, and Johnnie Sue Bedingfield.

Onita worked for many years as a bookkeeper at Holcomb Produce, which later became Edenton-Lamb and helping out with bookkeeping as needed at Parsons Mortuary. She later went to work for Decatur County Schools as a bookkeeper at Riverside High School where she made many good friends.

Visitation with the family will be held Sunday, October 27, 2024 from 3:00-9:00 p.m. at Parsons Mortuary in Parsons, TN. Visitation will continue on Monday, October 28, 2024 from 9:00 a.m.- 12:00 noon with funeral services at 12:00 noon in the Parsons Mortuary Chapel. Burial will follow at the Parsons City Cemetery where she will be laid to rest by her beloved husband Ralph.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Yellow Springs Cemetery Fund or Alzheimer’s Tennessee Inc., West TN.
