Roy Wyatt Obituary

Mr. Roy Wyatt age 79 of Parsons, TN passed away on Friday July 5, 2024, at his home in Parsons, TN.

Brother Roy, as everyone knew him, loved his family, and praised his Jesus. He always had a smile on his face, kind words in his mouth, and the message that Jesus was the answer. Brother Roy had an accomplished life full of service and commitment. He left a mark on the communities he served and the lives and hearts he touched. Brother Roy was often referred to as the Preaching Sherriff. He was ordained into the ministry in 1990. He served as the pastor at Bath Springs Baptist Church, Darden Baptist Church, and Judson Missionary Baptist church during his pastoral care. As well as serving as a pastor, Brother Roy served as the Mayor of Saltillo, TN. Followed by a distinguished law enforcement career. Brother Roy started his law enforcement career as a deputy for the Hardin County Sheriff’s department. He then served the city of Savannah, TN as a city policeman. He finished his law enforcement career in Decatur County serving first as a city policeman and then being elected for two terms as the county Sheriff. Brother Roy will be missed by all that knew and loved him, but as in James 14:3 “And I go to prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you unto myself; that where I am you may be also.” Brother Roy is where he belongs.

He is survived by his wife, Judy Wyatt of Parsons, TN; sons, Greg (Lisa) Wyatt of Morris Chapel, TN and Brad (Michelle) Wyatt of Jackson, TN; brother, Jerry (Barbara) Wyatt of Hernando, MS; sister, Cathy McPherson of Bartlett, TN; grandchildren, Kara (Chris) Litteral, Karlee (Collyn) Wyatt, Parker Wyatt, Chase Wyatt, Ciaran Wyatt, Tamra (Matthew) Robertson, Casey Burks, and Keaton (Megan) Burks; great grandchildren, Caden Litteral, Cal Litteral, Maylani Burks, Mia Burks, Lauden Browder, KenLee Robertson, Harlow Robertson, Carter Robertson, and Jet Harms.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Rob & Velma Wyatt; brother, Joe Wyatt; sister, Marlene Pipes.

A visitation for Mr. Wyatt will be held on Saturday July 6, 2024, from 6:00PM until 9:00PM at Union Baptist Church in Chesterfield, TN. Visitation will continue on Sunday July 7, 2024 from 2:00PM until time of funeral service. Funeral services will be held on Sunday July 7, 2024 at 4:00PM at the Union Baptist Church in Chesterfield with burial to follow in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Bath Springs, TN.
