Sharon Frances Marrs Obituary

Sharon Frances Marrs of Franklin, TN passed away October 27, 2023, at the age of 80.

Sharon was born August 3, 1943, in Little Rock, Arkansas to George Wilbert Miller and Gladys Clark Miller, and was the youngest of their children. She moved to Parsons, TN at the age of 3 and lived there through graduation from Parsons High School in 1961. Sharon graduated from Memphis Hospital School of Nursing in 1964, where she met and married her husband David O. Marrs on June 12, 1965.

During their marriage, Sharon worked as a Registered Nurse and after David’s passing in 1995, as a Surgical Counselor. She enjoyed traveling and living in multiple locations across the US, and abroad, in Iran and Germany for David’s military postings. Sharon found joy in being an active member of many organizations throughout her life including historical societies, Military Wives groups, and Newcomers clubs throughout her life. She had a love of military history, particularly about the Civil War and WWII. This came full circle when she moved back to Tennessee to live in Franklin in 2017 and enjoyed living among the Civil War historical areas she loved learning about. An earlier highlight from her life was being a volunteer tour guide at the Infantry Museum when she lived in Ft. Benning, GA where she was able to share her knowledge with others.

Sharon was an excellent knitter, baker, cook, and hostess. She was always quick to share her gifts and time with family, friends, and charities. Some of her hobbies and activities she enjoyed were playing bridge with friends, epic card games with family and friends, and in recent years, she began playing Mah Jong which she loved. Most important to Sharon were her faith, her family and friends. She was a steadfast member of many churches in the many places she has called home over the years. Her foundation in Christ sustained her through illnesses and difficult times and was a constant in her life. Her dedication and love for her family and friends was unquestioned and she was a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, and sister. Her passing leaves a void for all those who loved her.

Sharon is survived by her children, son John Marrs, daughter and son in law, Ashley and Jason Sims, grandchildren Mackenzie Sims, and Caroline Sims, great-granddaughter Kylie, brother Allan Miller, half-sister Patty Turner, Kathy Reeves, Matthew and Katie Miller and many nieces and nephews, their spouses and children, and many dear friends, all of whom she held with great affection and love.

Visitation with the family will be held on Wednesday, November 1, 2023, from 10:00AM until time of funeral service at Parsons Mortuary. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 1, 2023, at 11:00AM in the Parsons Mortuary Chapel with burial to follow in the Parsons City Cemetery.
