Toney L. Davis

Mr. Toney L. Davis, age 85, passed away on Saturday June 10, 2023 at the Overton County Health & Rehab Center in Livingston, TN.

Toney was born in the Natchez Trace/Wildersville area. His family moved to Memphis where he spent his childhood through young adult years. He graduated from Humes High School in 1956 where he met his wife of 61 years, Diane and had the privilege of being classmates with the young Elvis Presley! Toney served our country in the US Navy and fondly remembers his time in the Treasure Island Drill Team. He trained as an engineer and then spent a long career as an mechanical engineer and in management. Toney loved studying the Bible.

He is survived by his Wife, Diane Davis of Sparta, TN; Daughter, Mimi (Jon) Kallin of Cookeville, TN; Son, Toney (Selena) Davis Jr. of Benton, AR; Brother, Bennie Davis of Arlington, TN; 8 well-loved Grandchildren, and numerous Nieces, Nephews, and Cousins.

He is preceded in death by his Parents, James L. (JL) & Inez Tolley Davis.

He was a member of Hamptons Crossroads Baptist Church (Cookeville, TN). Previously, he and Diane were members at First Baptist Church in Cookeville where they enjoyed singing in the “Happy Tones”. Toney & Diane had a home in Sparta, TN for 37 years together.

Graveside services for Mr. Davis will be held on Wednesday June 14, 2023 at 2:00PM in the Pleasant Grove Baptist Cemetery in Wildersville, TN.
